Our colleagues at Splendid Things have launched a preliminary website for ‘The Good, The Bad and The Scouse’ heritage project. The project will see Splendid Things unearth some of Liverpool’s unsung heroes and undisclosed villains from the past a nd bring their stories to life. The project will focus on exploring the stories of people who have lived, worked and played in Toxteth between 1850 and 1900 and it will use these stories to shed light on the social, cultural and political climate of the time.
The initial website will provide an overview of the project and its three key stages, information on how people can get involved in the project and the resources/outputs being produced. The research team working on the project are also blogging about their experiences of doing research into digital and micro-film newspaper archives. The blog will reflect on the problems they encounter, how they overcame them and what their findings were. Over the course of the project the website will be updated and adapted until all of the digital outputs have been produced and launched…but for now, you can take a look at it here.
